Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the all-new CLA saloon, bringing cutting-edge technology and an unprecedented driving range to the UK’s electric vehicle (EV) market. As the first model in a new family of vehicles, the CLA will be available in both electric and hybrid versions, setting new standards in efficiency, intelligence, and performance.
The Longest-Range Electric Car in the UK
Leading the charge is the electric version of the CLA, which boasts an astonishing 492-mile (792km) WLTP range—making it the longest-range EV available in the UK. Two versions will be offered: the CLA 250+ and the CLA 350 4MATIC, both powered by an 85kWh (usable) lithium-ion battery.
The CLA 250+ features a single motor delivering 272hp and the headline range figure. Meanwhile, the CLA 350 4MATIC comes with EQ Technology, adding a second motor to the front axle for a total power output of 354hp, while still offering an impressive official range of 478 miles (770km).
Lightning-Fast Charging and Efficiency
Built on an 800V electric architecture, the new CLA promises charging speeds that rival traditional refuelling times. Both variants support up to 320kW fast charging, allowing a recharge of up to 200 miles (325km) in just 10 minutes.
The CLA also debuts Mercedes-Benz’s first-ever air-to-air heat pump, utilizing a multi-source model to optimize efficiency and extend range in various weather conditions.
Hybrid Variants and CLA Shooting Brake Coming Soon
For those looking for hybrid options, Mercedes-Benz will introduce a 48V mild hybrid version alongside a CLA Shooting Brake estate. While details remain limited, these models are expected to enhance efficiency and performance across the CLA range.
The Most Intelligent Mercedes Yet
The new CLA is more than just a high-performance EV—it’s also the smartest Mercedes-Benz to date. Equipped with the in-house developed Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), the car benefits from AI-driven enhancements and real-time connectivity through the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud. Over-the-air updates will keep crucial functions, including driving assistance systems, constantly up to date.
A Minimalist Yet High-Tech Interior
Inside, the CLA’s cabin embodies a sleek, futuristic design with advanced technology at its core. Three key elements define the interior:
The optional, floating MBUX Superscreen, which spans the dashboard and integrates a 10.25-inch driver display with a 14-inch center screen. An additional 14-inch display for the front passenger is also available.
A ‘floating’ two-tier centre console for a modern, uncluttered look.
Luxurious leather-clad door panels, enhancing the premium feel.
Standard Features and Availability
All CLA models come with a panoramic glass roof and LED High-Performance headlights as standard, ensuring a striking presence on the road.
The new CLA is set to hit the market in October, with pricing details to be announced closer to the launch date. Stay tuned for more updates on this groundbreaking EV from Mercedes-Benz!
